History:

Pleasant Hill is a village in Miami County, Ohio, United States. Pleasant Hill was incorporated over 150 years ago.  Pleasant Hill was originally called Newton, and under the latter name was platted in 1843. The village was incorporated in 1866.

A post office called Pleasant Hill has been in operation since 1839.Its post office was originally located on a hill south of town.  It was a pleasant place, giving rise to the name of Pleasant Hill.  When the post office was moved to town, the residents decided to change the name and to incorporate. 

Pleasant Hill is centrally located in Newton Township, at the intersection of State Route 48 and State Route 718.  It covers less than one square mile.  It has been the home of famous men such as: Jesse Beery, horse trainer; Roy Plunkett, inventor of Teflon; and Dan West, founder of Heifer International. In 1895, a monument was erected in the middle of town in honor of her fallen heroes from the Civil War who sleep in unknown graves.

In 2010, the little town had a population of 1200.  It has grown since its incorporation in 1866.

 

Geography:

Pleasant Hill is located 40°3′9″N 84°20′42″W (40.052427, -84.344878). According to the United States Census Bureau the village has a total area of 0.61 square miles (1.58 km), all land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,200 people, 458 households, and 327 families residing in the village. The population density as 1,967.2 inhabitants per square mile.
